EVENT UPDATES
Cadet Wing Carnival Event The event served as a positive way for cadets to relax and have fun before heading into finals week. The carnival was comprised of games, food trucks, deployed Haps, and raffles. The event served as a way to boost the morale of the cadet wing.
The carnival was originally planned to take place on the Terrazzo but due to the cold weather, the carnival was moved into the Arnold Hall Ballroom. Cadets waited outside Arnold Hall for the food trucks. The food trucks served Greek food, Mexican food, Italian food, among other types of cuisine. St Patrick's Day Event Cadet Wing Leadership along with Cadet Entertainment and other base agencies helped put together a St. Patrick's Day Cadet Morale Event last Thursday which was held in Arnold Hall Ballroom. It was originally scheduled to be held on the Terrazzo, but a snowstorm arrived that day which made them change it to an indoor event. The event was held to boost cadet morale and to provide an avenue for cadet musicians to showcase their musical talents.
The event included a battle of the bands with various bands playing throughout the event. Indoor games such as cornhole, chess and checkers were available for the cadets to play and to enjoy some friendly competition. To top off the evening delicious desserts like Rita's Custard, Kettle Corn and Lori Lynn's Cookies and Cream were made available to the cadets to enjoy! It was a fun filled evening for the cadets to enjoy and unwind before Spring Break! Check out this link to see the WebGuy Team photos! |
Winter Holiday Event This event served as a wing-wide morale event to celebrate the holiday season. It was held in Arnold Hall ballroom on Wednesday, 1 December 2021, from 1700 and concluded at 2100.
Cadets decorated the ballroom which brought the holiday spirit to USAFA after returning from Thanksgiving break. Decorations included Christmas lights and multicultural features along with fake snow and a photo booth for cadets to enjoy! An ugly sweater contest was hosted on stage right after the charity event and prizes included a $50 gift card for first place, $30 for second place, and $20 for third. A holiday themed karaoke was also enjoyed as well as AOCs and AMTs bringing their dogs and puppies. Cadet Entertainment provided games, such as Giant Jenga, Christmas themed cornhole boards, and other games as well as there being a Wing Holiday Casino Night and an arts and crafts area where cadets got to paint a mug. In order to increase awareness of other holidays during this season, Diversity & Inclusion team provided an assortment of snacks and holiday foods from the cultures and nationalities of the international cadets at USAFA, similar to the Battle of the Bands event from 1 Oct. What a great way to kick start the holiday season and finals just around the corner! Check out this link to see the WebGuy Team photos! |
International 'Oktoberfest' with Battle of the Bands We received excellent feedback from the USAFA cadets and permanent party regarding the first large scale event held on 1 October, 2021 that was planned and organized by the cadet wing leadership utilizing donor funding provided by The Cadet Wing Leadership and Morale Initiative. Event planning included formulating a budget and submitting those budget requirements for approval. Additional tasks were organizing equipment rentals (stage, equipment), food trucks, international cadets cooking their home cuisine, lawn games and logistics for the event.
The Cadet Wing leadership confirmed that 1200 full meals were provided and 500 mini desserts, on top of all the International cuisine, which was in line with expectations set. The Dean also attended the event and enjoyed engaging with the cadets. This was the first event, but the feedback from the Wing is, we want to do more. With this in mind, the next event is being organized for December to coincide with “Beat the Dean Weekend” and prior to Finals week! More information to follow!!
